4 Types of Date Chemistry That Need To Align For Major Attraction
During a date there is a lot going on besides just getting to know each other. There are decisions being made about whether or not your date is a good match for you, and these decisions are based on more than just whether they turn your crank or not – although that is part of it. There are 4 basic chemistry elements that need to line up in order to make a second date possible.
Physical Chemistry
You do have to be attracted to the person. This normally is not an issue if you have met each other before as face to face interaction normally tells you whether you are attracted to someone or not. But if you met in a chat room or have never been in physical contact before then you are testing the waters to see if there is any physical chemistry.
You will normally know within an instant. The energy connection is either going to give you goosebumps or leave you feeling nothing. Sometimes physical chemistry will spark after the other the other elements of attraction start to line up – but normally how you feel in the beginning of the date is how you feel in the end when it comes to physical chemistry.
Intellectual Chemistry
Everyone is on a different level when it comes to how they think. I’m not saying that one level is better than the other but I am saying that someone who talks passionately about their fishing trip and how to catch a fish may not related to someone who talks about Stephen Hawking’s theory that the universe has no boundaries. You have to be able to carry a conversation that interests both of you or the chemistry will be lost.
Emotional Chemistry
We are all at different moments in our lives. Some of us are ready to settle down and spend our life with that special someone, and some of us are not ready to give up our freedom of living alone and doing what we want. That’s just the way it is. So if you don’t match your dates expectations emotionally then at least one of you will find that you don’t feel that emotional connection.
This often happens when one person wants a relationship and becomes aggressive about it. They want something more, but their date doesn’t, and so they end up scaring away their date because of the readiness to move in and settle down.
Spiritual Chemistry
If you are an atheist and your date is a Christian it may be hard to find that chemistry that you require for a second date. In fact, it may cause arguments that end the first date early!
Spiritual chemistry is all about connecting on a level of beliefs and idea about life. For example, my husband and I have always believed the same things when it comes to why we are here and what we are doing. This allows us to support each other in our beliefs and how we go about our lives. If we didn’t have that spiritual chemistry then we would be butting heads all the time about why one of us does what we do or says what we say.
So as you can see there are a lot of things that need to line up in order for the chemistry to be there and a total attraction to take place. But when all 4 aspects of chemistry do line up then your quest of trying to find love normally melts away and becomes a pool of hot steamy love.

This was a really good post to read about different types of chemistry between people! I used to have a boyfriend, and I just hated his smell. Do not misunderstand me, he didn not stink, but he had some kind of a “sweet smell” that irritated me very much. Now I know, that this was chemistry, and we were not ment to be together (luckily we broke up in time).

I’ve been there before. Like you said it’s not a bad smell – it’s just not a smell that makes you want to rub yourself on him.
Of course I’ve also dated guys that smelled really really good but that’s about all they had going for them.
